SPRINK

Program System for Calculation of Pressure Drop in Sprinkler Systems

SPRINK is a modular program for the calculation of pressure drop in branched and intermeshed piping networks with circular cross sections.
SPRINK calculates direction of flow, rate of flow and pressure loss for individual pipe sections, as well as the pressure at individual nodes, and the resulting flow distribution for an intermeshed system of any complexity.
The calculation is carried out for a given system assuming a steady state flow.
A graphical representation of the network plan (plot), with the results included therein, is displayed on screen, or produced at a printer or plotter.

Program features
  • Graphical input of the entire pipe network. Entering of all data inputs into dialog windows
  • Representation of node heights.
  • Alphanumeric names for nodes and legs are freely definable by the user.
  • Plausibility of input data is checked and detailed error messages are provided.
  • Input and output of arbitrary energy flow at nodes.
  • Calculation of pumps by means of pump curves.
  • Pipe dimensions are taken from the ASCII-database ROHR.RDB
  • Pump curves are taken from the ASCII-database PUMPE.RDB
  • The databases can be completed by the user with an ASCII-editor
  • The program is checked and appreciated by VdS (Verband der Sachversicherer e.V., Association of German insurances).
  • Intermeshed networks of any complexity are analyzed
  • The numbering of networks and advance estimation of mass flows is carried out by the program
  • Calculation of Pressure loss according to Hazen-Williams formula.
  • Online help
  • Graphical interface and Output in German or English
  • Graphical representation of pressure curve
  • Output of graphics and results on any printer or plotter
  • Export of the drawings in HPGL and DXF file format or into Windows clipboard.
Input parameters and results

The piping system has to be divided into pipe sections. A pipe section consists of a pipe segment with an constant diameter without branches.
The pipe sections are connected by coupling nodes.

Results are shown graphically or tabular.

The graphical representation of the network plan (plot), with the results included therein, is displayed on screen, or produced at a printer or plotter. Extreme flow velocities are highlighted in colors.

The results for pipe sections are

  • Flow rate,
  • Direction of flow,
  • Velocity,
  • Pressure loss

The results produced for nodes are:

  • Pressure
  • Total inflow and outflow,
  • Output at sprinkler heads

SPRINK User Support and training

The SPRINK program license contract includes a qualified user support for the first six month after purchase/delivery (User advice by telephone hotline or e-mail).

SIGMA offers a for many years approved concept to the training of the program users This makes a quickest possible training of the users and with that the effective use of the program possible.

System requirements
  • PC with 256 MB RAM
  • Screen resolution 800 x 600 points, 1024 x 768 pixels recommended
